Loki’s POV

“Because I love you, you stupid God!”

Those words shocked him to his core. He was so surprised by the confession that he disregarded the insult completely. He never expected you to say that. He had hoped, goading you on, but he actually did not think you would say it. It was more of a hopeful what-if. But then those words came tumbling out of your mouth and broke down his wall. Utter astonishment was his initial reaction. Did she say what I think she just said? Second was confusion. If she loves me, why did she reject my advances at the hospital? Why had she not acted sooner? The third feeling that stirred in his chest was happiness. You loved him. The words came right from you. He had to verify that you really said that, and not just his mind playing tricks on him.

“Did…Did you just say..?” He tried to get out, but his mind was still processing.

You didn’t respond to him. It took him a moment to recollect himself and realize that you were fleeing the room. Where is she off to? He did not understand your sudden need to escape. You didn’t even stay long enough to hear his response. He had questions for you, sure, but right now all he wanted was to encase you in his arms and profess his love once more. Although, I did not actually speak the words before. He was so overjoyed that you returned his feelings. He would worry about the consequences later.

“[Name], where are you going?” He called after you, chasing after your departing form. “[Name], halt!”

He would have been easily able to catch you if not for your head start and knowledge of the area. As he saw you vanish into the woods he knew that it would quite difficult to get ahold of you. This was your home, a place you grew up in. You had the home advantage. This fact did not deter Loki as he still followed you.

Does she fear me? Or rather, my reaction? He reached the forest’s edge and pulled back a branch as he peered inside the shadowed area of the woods, the trees so tall that they almost block out the sun completely. Fool. She is well aware of my feelings. She rejected me. I do not know what has persuaded her, but I am grateful for it.
He saw your shadowed figure flash by in the distance and he quickly ran in that direction, pushing branches and hopping over roots as he did so. He gracefully weaved his way through the shrubbery as he chased after your shadow. You were the best thing he had in this life and all be damned if he lost you to your own stupidity. How could you think he didn’t love you? Couldn’t you see the way he looked at you or put up with your antics? Apparently, you couldn’t. Or else Loki would not be in this situation. He had to catch you before you convinced yourself he didn’t care, or worse, hate you.

Blast it. One should not be experiencing this assortment of emotions so closely to one another. Tis not healthy, he grumbled internally. Just moments earlier he was crushed by the painful memories of his past. Then due to your confession, utter joy. Now, he was concerned. Should anyone receive the Moodiest God award, it would be Loki.

Loki stopped in his tracts as he came across a small clearing. Fate, you have an odd sense of humour. It was the same clearing he decided to sleep in before your dreaming form roused him and guided him home. He glanced around the area to see which direction you had taken. Where did you run off to, little human? He spotted a snapped branch and looked further to see more damaged plant-life. He decided to take that way. Where is she headed?

He followed the path of destruction you caused quickly, moving much easier through the foliage that you knocked down. Any moment now, he would catch up to you and let you know just how much he loved you.

Normal POV

You panted heavily as you broke free from the forest. You ended up exactly where you had wanted to be. Right in front of Stan’s house. When you were younger, you two would always travel through the woods to and from each other’s homes, much to the displeasure of your parents. They finally got wise enough and prevented you and him from running through the forest together but you still remembered the path. You approached his front door and knocked on it, still trying to recover yourself. I hate running. Too much exercise. You glanced at your reflection in the door’s window. You noticed fine scratches on your arms and cheeks, inflicted by the branches you ran through. You picked a leaf from your hair and tried to wipe your wet eyes from unshed tears. You were not going to cry.

The door opened and was followed by a gasping Stan. “[Name], oh my goodness. What happened? Girl, you look awful.” He grabbed your hand and practically yanked you into his home. You squeaked at the sudden movement and followed him inside. “We are going to fix you right up, don’t you worry about that.” He dragged you past the kitchen where you could see his mother baking.

She noticed you and smiled. “Hello, [Name], dear. It’s good to see you.”

“Hello,” you managed to greet her before Stan led you upstairs into his bedroom.

He let your hand go and shut his bedroom door. He ushered you to sit down on his bed as he went and opened the window to get some fresh air in. He turned on the radio and plopped down on the bed next to you. He cradled his head in his hands as he gave you an expectant stare, waiting.

“Uh,” you started intelligently. “I did something bad.”

“Mhm, sure you did,” Stan replied sarcastically before sitting up. Without asking he started brushing your hair out of the knots you acquired while running. “Why are there twigs in your hair? Making a little bird’s nest, dearie?”

You relaxed a little at his brushing. It reminded you of simpler times. Times where your biggest worry was handing an assignment in on time, not about confessing your love to a God. Speaking of said God, you wondered how he was taking this. Your lip stuck out in a pout at the thought of him. He probably thought you were the most idiot person on the world. He already thinks that, but now it’s worse. He’ll probably mock me. He will always taunt me with this now. Or, he’ll think I’m so stupid that he’ll move out.

“Would you mind if I slept over?” You asked timidly. You did not want to return home in case you saw Loki. You didn’t know what to say to him at the moment.

Stan stopped brushing your hair and leaned in front to look at your face. “Did you commit murder or something? Are you hiding from the cops?”

You couldn’t help but laugh at that. “No, silly. It involves Loki.”

Stan’s playful expression dropped into a serious one. “Did he hurt you? What happened?” The solemn tone of his usual flamboyant voice startled you. You quickly gave him a reassuring grin and waved your hands in defense.

“Nothing, he didn’t do anything. I did. I told him I loved him.”

Stan’s jaw drop comically and you let out a laugh at his face. He blinked at you before suddenly tackling you over, shaking your shoulders. You couldn’t stop laughing at his reaction as he playfully shook you. “Are you serious? Oh my God! [Name]! You got balls. What did he say? What did he say?”

You finally stopped laughing as he stopped shaking you, but he was still hovering over you. You grinned up at him, a little embarrassed. “I don’t know?”

“What do you mean you don’t know?”

“I kind of….ran away.”

“WHAT!?” He began tickling you in punishment as he scolded you. You squealed and hollered in laughter at the feeling of being tickled. “Why would you run away? Are you stupid? [Name], you just don’t run away after confessing! What are you, some female lead in an anime? Gosh, so cliché. What do you say for yourself?” He continued to tickle you senseless and you squealed even louder.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Stop, please! Hahahaah.”

The tickling suddenly stopped and you no longer felt Stan’s weight on you. You blinked your eyes open to hear a loud THUD. You quickly sat up to gawk at Loki holding Stan up against a wall, hands gripping the collar of his shirt as he slammed him against the wall with another THUD.

“How dare you lay your hands on [Name],” he growled out. “You defile her even though you claim to be her friend. I will end you, mortal.”

Well, he looks absolutely terrifying right now. To say you were surprised to see Loki in Stan’s room would be an understatement. You were also a little worried over Loki’s death-glare he was giving Stan. Action now, questions later.

“Loki!” You called to him as you hopped out of the bed and rushed over to him. He did not let go of Stan, who was looking quite bewildered, but glanced at you briefly before glaring back at Stan. “Let him go, Loki. He was just tickling me.”

“He was on top of you.”

“It was play-fighting. Totally harmless. Please,” you pleaded with him. He looked back down at you with softened eyes. “Let him go. I’m sorry.”

He dropped Stan on the ground and turned towards you. Stan grumbled and rubbed his head, muttering something about ‘Stupid [Name] and her choice in men’. You gulped as you looked up at the man who you just recently confessed to. You tried not to fidget under his analytical stare. He eyed you up and down before sighing out of relief, pleased to see you unharmed.

“You are such a foolish girl,” he insulted you, but not cruelly. “Running off like that, what in the nine realms was going through that head of yours?”

You pouted and stood tall as you titled your head to meet his eyes. “I don’t know, I was embarrassed. Why were you chasing me? Stalker.”

“You are calling me a stalker? Hardly. I was following you because you took off into the forest. With dangerous creatures. Also, you did not hear my response,” he explained with a calm voice.

“I already know your response,” you retorted, features turning a little sad.

“No, [Name], you do not understand.” Loki leaned down and gently laid his hands on your shoulders. “You have not the slightest clue to how I feel, do you?”

You blinked and cocked your head at him in confusion. “What are you talking about?”

“Oh, for the love of God. Just freaking kiss already!” Stan shouted from his spot of the floor, obviously displeased with being attacked and now being witness to your sappy moment.

You blushed and frowned at him. “Stan, shhhhhh!” You said with a finger placed over your mouth. Yes, this was his room. Yes, he was just attacked by Loki. But that didn’t mean he could say that.

“Your friend has the right idea,” you heard Loki mutter and you snapped your head around to gawk at him. You opened your mouth to question his words but were cut off by the feeling of his cold lips crashing onto yours. You mentally screamed in surprise and your heart pounded so hard against your rib cage you thought it would break through. Your widened eyes spotted Loki’s closed ones as he kissed you. He’s kissing me. Does this mean…? You felt Loki’s lips move against your still ones, willing you to kiss him back. And kiss him back you did. He stumbled back a little as you wrapped your arms around his neck in a sudden hug and kissed back with enthusiasm. You closed your eyes and just the wonderful feeling overtake your senses. You felt so happy at the moment you were practically glowing. Loki loves me back. Loki loves me back! Loki’s arms snaked around your waist as he held you closer. Your heart did a little flip at the pleased hum he made in the back of his throat.

You two kissed a moment longer before the need for air was too great. You managed to pull away, but stayed in the embrace. I swear my face is going to crack with how much I’m smiling. A wide grin was plastered over your face as you beamed up at Loki. He returned the smile, but his was much more contained than your own. He lightly kissed your forehead and chuckled, his breath ghosting across your skin.

“Do you understand now?” He asked you quietly. He bent down and whispered in your ear; he did not want Stan to overhear his confession. “I love you, [Name].” You didn’t think it was possible but your smile grew even wider.

“Yay,” Stan cheered sarcastically as he tried to stand. He wobbled a bit before regaining his balance. He stared at the two of you with irritation and jerked his thumb to the door. “Now, get out of my house.”

Okay so I was going to post this tomorrow but apparently I was killing my readers with the cliffhanger. So here ya go.

Thanks for reading!
